Can I ride 20 miles without a drink?

Your probably home now but if your fit and you drop your pace, so literally the bikes rolling and you're not doing any work and its not too hot you'll make it but it not advisable to do it often. I've forgotten my waterbottle before for a 17 mile commute and survived.

In all honesty, I often go on a 20 mile-plus ride without taking a drink, even in warm weather. But then, I go at a very slow leisurely pace...

Is that how you get a face like your Avatar ;)

That and the rectally stored survival kit, yes.

How on earth did a silly and frankly unneccessary question like mine turn into a three page thre... oh yeah, the internet.

I got a chunky bottle of Vittel and did it. Yay me. No way I'm paying FIVE POUNDS for a bloody plastic bottle from the LBS, certainly not without something alcoholic in it!

And I probably wouldn't have managed without - I like to work hard, and it was actually pretty warm in the east midlands yesterday. Is today too, and so I made sure I remembered my bottle.

And forgot my helmet.

DON'T START we've already got 2 threads running on that!

20 miles without a swig of vodka does sound hard. I say take the train and finish the bottle

Pleeeeease nooooo!!! Not so long ago I had to take the last train home from London - with bike. There was a bloke swaying about the carriage - vicinity of my bike. Pretty obvious what was about to happen. I was bricking myself. Luckily he then lurched away from my bike and towards the door. That's where the inevitable happened: all that had gone down, came up. All over the door. The door through which I'd later have to wheel my bike. Triple-yuck!
