My Astra** has a recurring annoying problem with engine warning light.
But as you can see in this photo there is a symbol that looks like a clock dial c/w an arrow, its just below the warning light.
I never got a handbook. Ive tried googling with no success.

My daughter has similar issues with her Corsa, is it a problem on Vauxhall cars ?

The clock is cruise or speed limiter. Read the handbook online as it may not indicate a fault, but rather may be set to on or off.

Do you have access to an OBD reader?
If there's a problem it can give a code that Mr Internet can point you in the direction of.

A proper full systems reader such as an iCarsoft V2 etc might be required, but its worth trying a generic reader anyway if he has one available. If you werent so far away I'd offer to scan it for you.

It's not a fault. You've turned on the speed limiter by accident. Faults usually show in yellow or red. There is usually an extra stalk or switch. Quite often, cars can be fitted with a speed limiter as its cheaper than cruise. If you have cruise, you'll usually have both functions.

Thanks is for that.
Now I have you check what the speed limiter is and how I've somehow switched it on.

Petr, I have no idea what an OBD reader is. You are addressing the original technphoe here

It's a basic thingie that you plug into a socket in the car that reads any fault codes that the car may have. Once you know the code you can look it up and see the problem.

As others have said, though, it looks like the cruise control/speed limiter advice light.

There wil be a little switch or toggle on one of the stalks or on its own stalk. What you do normally is say you are in road works at 50 mph, you flick the switch and it stops you going faster. Cruise is similar in that it keeps you at 50 without pressing the accellerator. On my van I have an extra stalk with half a million buttons which I haven't learned about them all yet (fancy adaptive cruise).

mines on like one of those d pad things you get on game controllers, on the steering wheel. and is rather frustrating sometimes trying to activate it or switch it off when you decide you dont want it.

in theory it should switch off if you use the brakes, which they do, but the light often stays illuminated, expecting you to reset it again.

I've been looking at a range rover L322 it has lots of lights in the dash. I quite like the Christmas tree effect.....I think it looks a good buy....🤣🤣🤣
