The cable guides on the head lugs are for the drive train so there won't be any down tube shifters....... Strange.

Some builders started building frames with the cable stops there once STi shifting had been introduced, assuming that's what the customer specified - if so, that would put the frame at early/mid 90s. Either way, this looks like a custom build for someone - my guess it was a winter frame.

I suppose it will run modern bar mounted shifters?

That's pretty much the territory of a good lightweight tubing, actually slightly less than 531, could well be a more modern sibling ..as given by the brazed on Sti cable stops :smile:
