It's a much-loved fragrance ingredient called Iso E Super. It's in a lot of the fragrances you wear. So far the safety zealots in Brussels haven't banned it; it gives warmth and roundness to a perfume.

Not yet. Polycyclic musks are on their way out now. Mind you there are quite high levels of them in the environment, especially around sewer outfalls..... a shame because they smell fantastic.
