I don’t think you understand the concept of the show.
The audience have to know who is who. The players obviously don’t.

I imagined uncovering who is a traitor and who a faithful would be part of the interest. As the viewers have this information this is clearly not the idea which does leave me wondering even more what the point is?

The players have to vote out who they think is the traitor, but obviously they are only guessing, so they often get it wrong and vote out a faithful. And the resoning/arguement for or against a certain player is what makes it interesting to watch.

Tom Daley comes across as a bit of a Diva and certainly someone I would not like to get on the wrong side of.

I know this is very much one tiny example, but Tom Daley was once sitting opposite me on the tube. He must have been off to training and had a massive sports bag which he had deliberately laid across three seats next to him, very much giving off a "don't try and sit anywhere near me " vibe.

The celebrity version is much better than the civilian version, as you know most of the people already.

Have to admit, having never tuned in to Traitors I put on the celeb version because it was a pretty heavy hitter version with lots of household names. Have to say, I am actually enjoying it. I think in the main because you can sort of see the celeb hierarchy at work. I have never had any interest in being famous but I am kind of fascinated by the psychology of people who want to be.

Well, we think this is a fabulous series!
The faithful are all pretty hopeless, but then it’s a tricky game to suss the traitors out 🤷‍♂️

Very odd last night, Joe Marler had absolutely nailed it with JR but then focusses on Mark Bonnar as he wants to leave Ross until later on! Had he gone for him last night the rest would have followed and they'd have ousted a traitor.

I do not watch much TV, and certainly not reality type series etc., or all the murder drama series that seem to dominate the schedules nowadays.

Much rather listen to music or out walking my dog or cycling (of course).

However, and I acknowledge it's a big however, Traitors is the sole exception, actually find it quite fascinating (fully accepting the hype, editing etc.).

But, hey, each to their own and all that.

so the impression of what they are saying is bound to be distorted, and you just have to trust that they don't deliberately miss a bit out to make better TV

yes that's true. You often see someone's "live" reaction to a statement, but it's clear that it has been cut and pasted from another totally different part of the programme. e.g. the background noise, posture, body position doesn't match with what is going on in the moment

Don't care for "reality" TV per se. It all tends to get scripted. Give me a well written drama any time. Also, perhaps I'm a bit perverse. The more I see something advertised beyond a certain point, the less likely I am to watch it. I might have missed something good at some time because of that, but that's the way it is.

Let's hope some well written dramas aren't advertised beyond your certain point then.....

I was listening to a podcast with Joe W and Mark B. They were saying the edit is telling the story. In the first few episodes it was focused understandably on the Traitors, so people like Joe and Mark hardly got a look in.
Last night was focused on David and Mark because the editors know the outcome of the vote and have to sell the narrative.
all the contestants are being filmed constantly so they have at least 30 hours of footage to edit down to probably 40 mins of actual TV time.

For those who have been especially disparaging here: I’m kind of curious what kind of “relaxing light entertainment” you prefer?

Sure, this isn’t Mastermind or Only Connect, but neither is it (what I consider mind-numbing!) Corrie or other soaps 🤷‍♂️

It’s a bit of fun, this time with some *proper* celebrities - hardly B & C-list, albeit some won’t be known to people who aren’t in their sphere. That said, we have enjoyed the previous series too.
The fun is watching them (failing to, so far 😂) figure out who the traitors are. & like the vast majority of TV, of course it is edited to tell the story.

I love, on a thread like this, when people who say they never watch rubbish such as reality shows actually waste some of their valuable time, when they could be reading the classics or saving the world, reading and responding to the thread.

Just because we don't like certain TV programmes doesn't mean we are highly intellectual in our media consumption.

I haven't watched The Traitors, have someetimes wondeed if it might be worth it, but couldn't be bothered.

But most of what I DO watch is not exactly super highbrow. I enjoy Richard Osman's House of Games (and sometimes also watch Pointless), and in the last few months I have started watching Midsomer Murders (currently up to series 9 of 23).

I was being facetious with the classics/saving the world comments, but really do not understand why people take the time to post a comment about something they have no interest in, when the poster clearly has.

Cricket really bores me but I would never respond to a cricket thread saying I never watch it.
