For those who have been especially disparaging here: I’m kind of curious what kind of “relaxing light entertainment” you prefer?

Sure, this isn’t Mastermind or Only Connect, but neither is it (what I consider mind-numbing!) Corrie or other soaps 🤷‍♂️

It’s a bit of fun, this time with some *proper* celebrities - hardly B & C-list, albeit some won’t be known to people who aren’t in their sphere. That said, we have enjoyed the previous series too.
The fun is watching them (failing to, so far 😂) figure out who the traitors are. & like the vast majority of TV, of course it is edited to tell the story.

I enjoy The Great British Bake Off and to some extent The Great British Sewing Bee, Antiques Roadshow. Much of what I think you mean by light entertainment I'm not really interested in. Some random examples would be most afternoon TV, the late afternoon quizzes, Strictly, The One Show, Dr Who, Eastenders, Call the Midwife, any reality TV.

I'm aware of many of these programmes because my wife watches them. It's something I can't grasp. A very intelligent woman with many, many interests will watch what I regard as awful TV. She will shout at the contestants on Tipping Point if they don't time the counter drop properly. I ask you.

Hey! I grew up on the Isle of Wight: I *love* a coin dozer game, & I’m with your wife when idiot contestants fail to press the button right 😂😂😂
& yes, yours things are light entertainment that I enjoy too.
Maybe I like too much TV of an evening 🫣

i am the first to complain about the inappropriate use of the word celebrity and happy to accept in most cases it’s people I’ve never heard of because they are soap opera actors.

But you can’t accuse this cast of being unknown in the same way as Strictly or the jungle, as I’ve heard of most of them. Apart from Alan Carr, who I consider to be a waste of oxygen the others are excellent entertainment. On this occasion the BBC have done a great job and I’m sure it will have a positive effect on the civilian version of the show.

Agreed. Didn’t really know Tameka, Niko, Ruth or Cat, but that’s only 4 from 19, & they will appeal to others who might not know the Joes or others - a very decent cast, & Cat is fast becoming my vote for overall winner 👍
The Faithful continue to disappoint, but it is certainly entertaining 🤣

The civilian show was a bit of an awkward blend of wink murder with some challenges thrown in to unsettle the dynamic but it worked.

As with too many of these shows season 1 was good but subsequent series had too many people who wanted to be on TV above all other motives. Anyone remember how good the first Big Brother was?

I suspect they'll get a decent cast for season 2 but after that they'll be taking the press gangs down to Albert Square, the Rovers Return and the Westminster dole office to recruit; it'll lose some of its shine.

One theory someone floated (think it was Osman) was that you shouldn't be trying to oust Traitors at the this stage as they'll just get replaced. You want to get rid of people you don't like (who might want you out) or poor game players.

I think they all like each other, or at least have a professional respect for each other, so feelings can't really come into it. As stephen Fry said, you can't really have a strategy or play the game because everyone could be lying. The idea is to get the Traitors out; whether you like the person or not is irrelevant. I just think Kate is a very poor game player, she hasn't the guts to make decisions and is fearful of calling someone out for fear of upsetting them. Nick is probably my favourite in terms of his skill at gamesmanship.

Right from the 1st episode of the 1st series it became clear to me that it's impossible to work out who the traitors are. Any logic based on what the traitors would do is irrelevant due to bluffing and double bluffing. The lying part is pretty easy for the traitors unless you're a terrible liar in which case you'd never be picked. There's too many variables, too many people.

All the 'clever' scheming by the traitors is also irrelevant as the faithfuls will never have enough to go on to know who the traitors are. The best they can do is sense the mood and drop some hints to reinforce it.

The only clue the celebs have is the, quite cleverly worked out, 'big dog theory'. But that has only worked because they are known celebs and the rest know how the tv editors worked.

I firmly believe it is just random until possible the final round or two at which point tactics come into play a little for the traitors.

I do enjoy watching it but it's a bit of fluff with no basis for any reasoning and logic. It's all guesswork.

At the start the best strategy is simple to try to get rid of people that are clever and can work things out

whetehr you are a Traitor or Faithful

they are a risk and the things they work out at that point are normally based on naff all and hence everyone is at risk
t
as said before - not point in getting rid of a Traitor at the start because they will be replaced
AND when this happens then things change and any clues you had become misdirection

so you want the Traitor to win at this point

THEN you want to work it out later
and - if possible - become a traitor after building up a level of trust amongst the faithfuls

Then you have a good chance

you can clearly win as a Faithful - but it is less likely that it will be YOU
with the Traitors at least you know what is happening
