I taught myself to touch type online three or four years back - need to send lots of lengthy emails and do so at a quick pace - a lot of them of confidential so I had to type them.
I found this website to be good along with sitting in complete darkness - so that I could feel the keys and not be tempted to cheat.

Does your local library have one you could try first!

Wouldn't you be able to choose the language on setup?

just force yourself to use both hands properly in your normal day to day typing. Don't worry about trying not to look at keyboard - just force yourself to use the right fingers and you'll pick it up pretty quick as your brain already knows where all the keys are from decades of 2 finger typing. I'd just concentrate on the letters and let numbers and punctuation follow in good time. Assuming you type a fair bit, I reckon you'll have it in a week and be quicker than before not long after.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I started many moons ago ago as a copy typist, and touch typist. Self taught I still do it now, although I must admit what with tablets and flat keyboards I'm not a happy camper. Much prefer the old fashioned keyboards. I don't think it really matters anymore how you type. if it works for you, then as the old saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Yes. I learned when I was supposed to be doing my DPhil research. Far more successful and useful than the failed degree.

Like others, I used Mavis Beacon. I annoy/impress colleagues by being able to hold a conversation with them while typing an email.

I can almost but not quite touch type. I am much faster when I look at my hands. I keep trying to force myself not to look at the keys but it slows me down which is annoying!

I just kind of picked it up as a teenager/20 something. I've worked in computing all my life and find it a bit odd when others can't. Again I was 60+ wpm, nudging towards 70 I think, but it's been a long time since I've cared to check. Again, tablets etc make it harder and I fall back to 2 to three fingers, but that's more space on the keyboard than anything and I still type by touch pretty much. I'd put it down to my mother being a secretary, but as she never taught me any typing at all it wouldn't really fly.

Mrs V can.... and she did a shorthand class when she was a P.A. she's a right poseur on a keyboard...... but has never used the shorthand since... business shutdown and she works in accounts now
I was a programmer for several years and I think all of us were two-finger typists. I think some people are just more naturally gifted at it than others - like me. It's the same with golf!
I think you're right. Then again I also have oddities, like I moved to a Microsoft natural keyboard over a decade ago and guard the ancient one I have with my life (it also means when User Services come to do something to my PC they can't, because half the keys no longer have letters on and then there's my Logitech Trackball to contend with...).

Equally oddly I have some passwords which I can only type when I'm not looking at the keyboard. If I tried to watch what I was doing I'd double guess myself over what they were...

The last time I tried I was, however, still terrible at golf.
