Its a beautiful boat - very well cared for & much loved....they're just struggling with the locks now as they're getting old!

Canals are another world. people are friendly and wave at you and smile. plus the pace is so slow its wonderfully relaxing.
when you finally get back to real life it appears that all cars are travelling at 100mph and everybody is an ignorant sod with a glum face.

Well, narrowboat people tend to be nice. Some of the plastic gin palace people are ghastly.

Make sure you don't fall in if you go through Wolverhampton - my dad goes on a blokes holiday once and his mate 'speccy' fell in on the second day and they couldn't tell one end of him from the other for the rest of the week.

Think it's just going to be the two of us, and we're planning it for next summer, so plenty of time to save / pay up.

if it's just the two of you then I'd avoid canals with big staircases - you'll get pretty pooped opening and closing locks.
