Well, depends on your budget and what you want from it? Like is it for commuting or Sunday best?

I have a Synapse for some five years now. Great bike which I use for summer club runs and sportives. I have not raced on it yet but plan to do my first club race/TT this year on it.

The Synapse is a well regarded bike.

As already said the geometry is more relaxed than the race geometry of the CAAD10, but that's not a bad thing if your not used to the riding position of a road bike anyway.

But forget about geometry BS, it will feel like a rocket after your CB anyway.

So as long as the bike fits you you won't go far wrong

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Always like cannondales, if i had the cash i would be after a super 6 hi mod , nearly bought a synapse myself a while back but as it was halfords c2w they wanted full rrp so the boardman won out on spec.

outlash

also available in orange
The synapse is pretty much at the top of my list when it's time to upgrade. From what I've read it looks like a bike that'd keep pretty much anyone happy.

I've got the 2011 version with [mostly] 105 (the chainset is FSA and the calipers, Tektro). It was my first road bike after a long time and cannot fault it.

My feedback is.......... if there is ever a chance you will wish you had a more racey bike, forget the Synapse or any similar shopping bike, sorry sportive bike.

You can easily approximate the more upright fit on a race geometry bike with readily available and cheap components, with the ability to quickly and easily get back to race fit, you will not be able to approximate a race fit on a Synapse as easily or cheaply, you will end up with daft angled stems trying to lower the handlebar below the top of the head tube. The Synapse will be less responsive due to the geometry too, so it will never ever be a crit machine! The comfort gain will be marginal.

I've just sold my Synapse 2012 105 I'm upgrading to a Supersix Ultegra and I have to say its one of the best road bikes I've rode it's great for riding with the family at a leisurely pace or taking on a 100 mile sportive.
I recommend it highly. One thing I would say is make sure you get the right size I'm 6ft with 32.3 inside leg and the 56' was good for me when most LBS would perhaps sell a 58'.

Good luck.
