Cannondale Synapse 105 5 Disk

After reading the threads, reading reviews, visiting numerous LBS I have finally decided on the Cannondale Synapse 105 5 Disk as my first proper bike

I couldn't bring myself to get a Boardman, our group of 11 doing a 350 mile ride next year, already has 7 brand new shiney Boardmans so couldn't add another

Before I make the purchase, thought I would check that no one has any horror stories on them!

Did you ride it? That's the way to know if it's the bike for you

Not ridden it as such. Had a sit on and measure up etc

Best ride if you can. Just because it's the right size, doesn't mean it's the one for you I'd want a ride before parting with that sort of cash for a stock bike

Make sure it's 100% the right size for you.....

Just to throw a spanner in the works.....just noticed the CAAD8 105 5 2015 is also available to me..........opinions on which would be better?

Well, question is do you want CX which can be commuterised / used for touring or a fairly racy road bike which is less commuterisable? You'll want mudguards either way if riding in a group

I need a bike that can handle and be comfortable for long rides. Planning 350 miles in 3 days next year

Do you have to carry anything on the bike beyond basic tools and supplies?

I'd personally choose a Synapse as it's more relaxed, although a well fitting CAAD should also be so but you may be stuck with flimsy mudguards

If you are anywhere near Leeds, the new Snow&Rock/Cyclesurgery has just opened and has a lovely Whyte Suffolk in with $LOTS off it. I was there at lunchtime, if I had the money I would have been taking it home tonight!
