i just got myself a new canyon cf 7.0 road bike but it comes with a mtb slx cassette while the rest of the groupset is shimano 105.I don't need a 32t rear cassette so want to swap it for a ultegra 11-28t. will this be compatible or will i need a new chain or chain length or even a new rear derailleur.everyone talks about short cage and long cage.i am totally confused!

Nice Bike. Any 10sp Shimano (compatible) or SRAM cassette will work, you might need to get a shorter chain (it usually best practice to get a new chain with a new cassette). A short cage derailleur I think would improve shifting but I dont think its neccessary.
thanks for the reply.yes was in my lbs today for there advice and it shouldn't be a problem.i am quite disappointed on how slack the 105 changes are,just doesnt feel very slick compared to my sram mountain bike.might take your advice and see if a new short(ultegra) derailleur might tighten things up.
