...when at ground level, no going up some maa-hooo-sive tower to push back the horizon. (Unless you insist, in which case make it clear it isn't a sea-level viewpoint)

Starter for 10
Copenhagen - from where at sea level you can see Malmo and a big chunk of the adjacent Swedish coast.

Two starters for 10

Copenhagen - directly borders Sweden
Dublin - directly, just about, borders the UK

Are there any non-coastal ones?

EDIT: the mods merged two threads. The other was about capitals on international borders. I'm not stupid. You can't see another country from Dublin.

The mods have merged my two threads and thus rendered this insensible and make me appear to be an idiot. You can't see another country from Dublin FFS!
Berlin in what was then the German Democratic Republic. You could see lots of bits of West Germany through bits of wasteland and from trains. It looked very colourful.
Only half a mark. You can't see another country from it now, I think.

I wouldn't be surprised if on a very clear day you could see the Isle of Man or the tops of the Llyn Peninsula from the top of the Dublin mountains or from one of those big chimneys on the edge of Dublin at Dun Laoghaire. I remember seeing the Irish coast once from Holyhead.

Apparently, according to Michael Portillo, Istanbul is in both Asia and Europe; so you can stand on one side of the city and look from one continent to another, and visa versa - obviously !
