South Main auto does loads of evap leak repairs. Im sure I've watched a jeep cherokee evap repair. May give some pointers if the gas cap doesn't fix your problem

Poked about under all the various pipes and gubbins in the engine bay (I'm new to diesels and these newer ones are stupidly complicated). I couldn't see any signs of an oil leak from any components using the endoscope, just 'remains' of the leak. My STP engine degreaser arrived, so emptied about 1 & 1/2 tins of the stuff above and below where the oil has been found. Let it sit for a few minutes then gently hosed it off and hosed the pavement down. You could eat your dinner off the engine. I'll keep an eye on it now I know it's all clean.

Autoglym Vinyl and rubber care is the best for old plastics. Amazing plasticiser properties.

I just use GT85 or Mr Sheen, depending on what is handy at the time.

Minor car fettle on MrsF Qashqai. Pads & Filters have been bought to do either next weekend or weekend after. But, I noticed the rear wash was just a trickle this weekend. Popped off the high level brake light and the nozzle (that's built in) was clear. Not much coming from the pipe. The car isn't used a lot, covered 3,000 miles last year. Popped in a squirt of bleach and hot water into the tank and ran the jets front and back. Let the solution settle for a couple of hours and repeated. Rear jet working fine. Noticed a few bits of black gunk on the boot paintwork.

Ran the jets again and topped up with 2l of "extreme concentrated" screen wash. Fortunately, not needed to remove the wheel arch liner to clean the pump as I did on my brother's Kuga. His pickup filter was covered in jelly !

Service due on the Mazda. I like to change oil at 6k, I think recommended is 10k.
A bit messy today..
Change air filter...arghh , I've ordered (or been given) the wrong one. No mind, will re order and replace ASAP.
It turned out i had enough oil left.over from the.last change, so the 5ltrs i got for this goes to the next service.
Must change sump plug and washer.next.time, the existing one is starting to look ropey.
EML.came on when completed...ooer. id had the MAFSensor disconnected while I had the airbox out, checked correctly connected, seemed OK, EML went off after a short drive and restart. Never happened before, shrug shoulders, it perhaps just wasn't connected right, seemed it was but hey ho.

All good, service reset for 5k.

Oh, that Buzz Weld chassis guard is quite good for renovating old tools. 'Someone' has borrowed my two hammers and I've been left with an old one of my father in-laws. Out with the drill and wire brush, then sprayed the head with the chassis guard. Looks a little more presentable.
