My van has a conventional starter motor for normal starting, and a combined alternator-starter for stop-start use. Its a hideously expensive unit so if I can avoid breaking it or wearing it out then all to the good.

Park it up slopes so you roll down them to jump start.

Bosch car batteries for the wWestern Europe market are made by Exide, which is what I typically go for.

...and Bosch have shipped out most of their production to the far east. The only European brand left that I now trust for relays and the like is Uro.
