Prompted by comments on another thread, and in no way cycling related. What's your car history, or even bike history?
I started as a Ford man, 1979 Mk I Fiesta 1.1 L (Reginald) finished in finest beige. Ziebarted from new it never rusted and cost me £250. Subsequently handed on to my younger brother, then his now wife. Scrapped as it became not cost effective to repair mechanically, still had no rust. Followed this with a 1982 Sierra, 3 door 1.6 (Theobald)which had been played with. Very low, very loud and a downright handful in the wet. That went in favour of comfort, a 1992 Sierra 1.8 LX 5 door hatch (Jaws), a lovely car sold only for my then must have .
Cue the change, and I went all Swedish. A 1998 Volvo V70 2.5 (Swampy), super wagon and the most comfortable car I have owned. Changed this for a 2005 XC90 Ocean Race (Harvey) which was going to be a long term car, but a house move resulted in another change only 18 months later. Another Volvo, this time a Phase 2 2002 V70 (Yoda), comfy but the auto-box was a dog and I was glad to be rid of it in 2011, where I found myself in a job with a car allowance, so I bought my first brand new car, a Volvo XC90 (Rocky). I bought Rocky as I didn't think of anything else, being forced to sell the first one which I loved made the decision easy. As a family car they are stunningly practical, but cost the earth to run. An opportunity to change came about early this year, and I went all sensible, ending up with a Honda Civic Tourer (Sylvester). I miss the little Volvo things, but I don't miss the fuel bills.
Do other people give their cars names too??
Bikes is another story, perhaps after dinner..
