Go on, tilt your head!
It's vaguely interesting how people tend to keep to makes, specifically they rarely flip between Ford and Vauxhall :-)

Yer I was a fully signed up member of a Vauxhall owners club (Migweb). Used to go to the shows and everything. Once the Coupe Turbo was sold, our next car purchase was more for the wife to enjoy (Mini Cooper S). Beyond that, cars have been bought for practicality reasons really. I prefered the Focus over the Astra so thats why I switched at that point. I can't see me moving away from German now tbh.

Car history;
Mini (proper one)
Mini (another proper one)
Honda Prelude
Toyota Corolla - it was £50 and the lowest cost car I have ever owned
Fiesta Zetec from my dad as it was too cheap to pass up
Caterham Roadsport - my first new car / my first quick car 0-60 4.9 secs ^_^
*Lotus Elise - I needed a practical car to complement the Caterham
Caterham R500 - my first properly fast car 0-60 3.4 secs:eek:
Toyota Surf (to tow the R500 to tracks)
*Audi A4 (Mrs O wanted a new car and it was too good to sell)

* in the stable currently, along with Mrs O's car.

I think the engine combo that I have not yet owned is rear engine, rear wheel drive. perhaps a Porka will be on the list one day...
I had a 1500 Spitfire. Great fun, and the easiest car to work on that I ever owned.
I had an old MkIII but they were only 1100 or 1300 then. The one before they changed the back end to have the "triumph" style back lip design.

Yes easy to work on but I guess more opportunity as they went wrong more.

Gearbox packed in on mine. Went to the scrappy and he just picked up a box from a pile of them, said they all just fit any Triumph! I fitted it myself with just a standard tool kit. If I recall you took out the passenger seat and removed a cover under the carpet, then just took the gearbox out from inside the car.

When I got it the car was a horrid sky blue so I sprayed it (british racing green of course) in my garage. It was the only open car I have had and when the sun was shining I loved it. Back then though sports cars had gone from the whole MG/Triumph two seater to saloon car rallying and my spit was easily left behind by decent escort which was the car to have then.

The Astra Coupe wasn't available until 2000ish, how did you get one 3 years early? Lol

Unless you are from SA where they got the mk3 saloon in turbo form?

Sorry, got me dates wrong - It was a 2002 in Kingfisher Blue.
Z20LET engine was brilliant, until the crankshaft decided it was time to start digging it's way out and I was quoted £3600 for a rebuild.

I was going to post a link to it on Google Streetview, but they've updated it - so here's my BMW from 3 years ago before I got made redundant: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.5...ata=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1seDDAXJAbQ5qGxoNAdivOWQ!2e0
