On a local advertising board there is an enormous poster for the new Vauxhall Mokka with integrated cycle carrier.
I can't find the exact poster I saw, that says "mamila ready", link for the same image with different wording.
A quick CC search reveals that Vauxhall attempted to tap into the driver cyclists market some years ago, using a (presumed, no link to that ad) fit female role model to sell their integrated cycle carrier.
Mamil seems to have more car selling potential.
Questions to the forum:
Do you think non cycling drivers will consider cyclists less an annoyance on the road after seeing this ad?
If mamil has a car, he obviously pays road tax ^_^
Could non cyclists consider taking up cycling after seeing this ad?
If Mr Jones next door can do it, I can too ... it's not just a weird thing to do anymore.
Will mamils be accepted by taxis and wv men, but ladies cycling in ordinary clothes still get a hard time?
Will female drivers become more sympathetic towards all cyclists, as presumably their mamils call on them every weekend to be rescued, no probs with the new car with integrated cycle carrier

Last but not least: if an Eternally Young Woman Not In Lycra buys that car, will the car be ready for her?
This last one is not a serious question, the others are.

The Corsa has an integrated pull out bike rack. I looked into the details. It seems a similar amount of faff as a separate purchase, is quite an expensive add on, and means you can't have a spare wheel. Seemed a bit gimmicky to me.

Don't know much about cars, I think in this case is the implication that is important, ie a driver can be a cyclist too, or viceversa.

What about the new Mokka, advertised as mamil friendly, while the older Corsa was advertised as "young fit female" friendly.

Don't have a tv, will you tube it. I only saw the advertising billboards.
I don't know whether it's the same vid but there's one embedded in this link which ends up with cyclists up a Dales-style hill. http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vehicles/vauxhall-range/cars/mokka/overview.html

Not a clue I'm afraid. This is the first time I've heard of the mokka. I used to have a Corsa and was considering another. But as I m neither young , nor fit nor female I guess that's not on.

Can't speak about the rest of the country, but around my way the Vauxhall Corsa is the Chav's getaway vehicle of choice.

As far as the OP's questions are concerned. I consider it to be the usual bollocks churned out by corporate marketing depts to try to sell a substandard product to a gullible public using whatever crap is trending on Twitter at this moment in time (yes, I am a cynic)
