Am I abnormal in using my door/wing mirrors before making a turn or using roundabouts? Serious question.

It's something I was taught long ago and reinforced when I took my bike test where they called it a 'life-saver' when you check over your shoulder. In the case of a motorcyclist it's most likely their own life they are saving; land rover, someone else's.

If you are abnormal, then so am I.

I never, ever, move my car into a position that I haven't checked with my eyes (directly or via mirrors) to be clear.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Mission accomplished Sara! Though i've only done one as i thought the inconvenience of changing or pumping up a flat tyre was fair payback for them inconveniencing me!:thanks:

Thanks to others for the replies by the way!;)

I have a funny feeling that you have carried out a criminal offence, not 100% sure though. I hope you left a note explaining why you did it and who you were, as we would not want the driver blaming somebody else.

I really hope that you did not do it. In fact I might go over to the Landie forum and create a link.

Another good revenge tale I heard was about the bloke who got sacked from the Brighton rock factory. Shortly afterwards the Management discovered they had two miles of rock in their warehouse with the words "F**K OFF" written through it.

Funny that guys must have had a lot of mates as I have heard that myth quite a few times. It has never been proven.

It's a good story though - one of those stories you want to be true!

Like I want it to be true that someone has tried the frozen sausages trick!

I use a life saver all the timee when I change position in the road, or turn left or right....biker training as well

I never move any vehicle without checking the mirrors, and I always glance at the nearside mirror before exiting a roundabout. Lorry driver training.

As for letting someone's tyres down ... well, it might or might not be a good idea, but it's certainly not a great idea to tell the world you've done it.

Why, what have you got to confess? Would you fly with an airline whose pilots made 'mistakes'?

One day you will mirror, signal, maneuver and not see all there is to see.

I would never consider myself a perfect driver like some of you, experienced maybe 41 years and 40,000 miles per annum average. 7,000 per year on the bike for the last 25 at least, again not always perfect that is for sure, again unlike some of you out there.

I don't quite understand how you get from "People will make mistakes from time to time" to "It's hypocritical t criticise other people's mistakes, because you make them too"

I mean, you are implying that we should not bother taking any action over people's mistakes - even when the mistake could have easily caused someone an injury.
