Car Washing

Our electric truck at work sometimes gets half a bottle of water emptied over a wheel arch, if there's some been put in the recycling not properly finished. I try to avoid dousing her in beer or coke though.

I did, and ended up with a shed full of expensive cleaning products, a snow foam lance and a DA polisher!!!

I did muck the car out on Saturday morning. It was a right state I will get around to washing it during the week. I have hose, brush dodad on the end of it and some car shampoo (or as we call it, Fairy Liquid). I have some polish stuff for silver coloured cars too and some bumper blackener too. I might even do a semi decent job.

Please dont use back to black!! At least buy some Autoglym bumper care and sort the black plastics properly lol

+1 re back to black, waste of money and effort. Autoglym bumper care is far better.

I have used the 2 bucket method back in the day when I was the proud owner of a mk2 Golf GTi. These days it is a Toyota Corolla so it doesn't merit the same levels of TLC . It does still get the occasional wash and polish though, with Autoglym super resin polish (then Collinite wax if I'm having a bout of OCD).

I know, I know.........
That's what happens when you get older and your income takes a nosedive for whatever reasons. That mk2 GTi was one cracker of a car. Unfortunately they don't make them like that any more, not even Volkswagen.

In it's defence, the Corolla is not a bad car, and since driving these days is more of a chore than a pleasure IMHO, it does the job. It looks better than your average Corolla too, especially when it's just had the Autoglym treatment! ......

Many the time I have fixed a cars condensation problems by turning off the recirculated air control. You will see it often on badly misted up cars, muppets.

Best way to sort a condensation problem is to clean the windows. No dirt for the condensation to form on, no condensation.

Indeed, that's what I meant.

Weeeeeel.... condensation will still form especially if you close the air inlet and it's cold outdoors. It just forms less readily on clean glass. A heated windscreen or running the AC compressor and adding some heat will solve that.

In the days when it was considered safe to go there I used to go to Pakistan on business. My agent's car was always full of mosquitos in the mornings, to his immense frustration. His windows used to steam up even with the AC running and condensate used to drip on my feet from under the dash. No matter how many times I told him, he wouldn't believe that the AC condensate drain was blocked with dirt and the mossies were breeding in the water in the tray. He used to bollock his brother for leaving the "glass" open and his brother used to protest, in vain...
