Hi! I was tightening my seat post on my Specialized Roubaix and there was a pretty loud bang! I'm not sure if it was the frame or just the torque wrench! The maximum torque on the seat post clamp, frame and seat post is 6.2Nm, my park tools torque wrench is set to 6Nm( its max).
Upon inspection there are no cracks or anything although after removing the seat post clamp we noticed there was no paint under the clamp (exactly the width of the clamp has no paint). Here are the pictures. I'm not sure if it's normal that there is no paint or it's because I tightened the seat too hard. But I was using a torque wrench and there are no hairline cracks or anything. Please help me know if it's carbon damage or that's just the way it is. you can see the border of the clamp there is no paint. At the unpainted carbon area under the seat post clamp there are no cracks.

I've just checked my Roubaix (same colour) and confirm that the area beneath the clamp is not painted.

Maybe best to take it to a Specialized dealer & let them check for cracks in case it's hairline & difficult to see.

If you can't see any cracks and were using a torque wrench don't worry, something was settling into position.
