I have a chip in (out of) my frame, on a seatstay.

Does it have to be reprotected? If so, what's the best way?

Depends how deep it is I guess, if just the lacquer or paint, I would think it's fine

If deeper you may need a new frame

Put salt and vinegar on it and a dash of tomato sauce it will be fine.

Anyway, I'll have a proper look at it tomorrow. I don't see how it can be very deep, on the side of the seatstay. I only noticed it because the paint is bright green.

Do the big manufacturers sell touch-up paint?

It seems to be just that top layer of green paint. I might touch it up if I can get some, but I suppose there's no urgency.

It will likely be clear laquered over the green paint same as cars are.

Just buy some model enamel or nail varnish and dab it into the "pit" in the paint, applying several coats to build up thickness. Finish with a clear lacquer.
