The Glue that binds us together.
How much would one expect to pay far a quality carbon frame,
Not really thinking of buying one at the moment, just doing the sums,
i know there are differant grades of carbon, so there is differant weights stiffness and strength.
£4,050.00 for an expensive one down to £250-00 for a cheap one.
there has got to be a big differance.
So what would you pay for one, this is frame and forks only.

I think you might be able to get one for about the cost of a good pair of bolt cutters.

For that sort of outlay, you can reasonably expect to get handlebar, gearset, wheels, saetpost and saddle too.

Just a thought.

Difference in cost is usually down to three things:

Quality & weave density of the carbon
Weight
Badge or branding

Now given that the leading edge design and R&D is done by the major manufactures you can expect their frames to be more expensive overall. Cheaper carbon frames from the far east tend to copy the big boys (and mostly do an alright job of it, but never spectacular).

For example a Dogma2 frame (the frame that Cav rides) is roughly £5Kish and this is down to the use of the best quality carbon, very dense weave and extreme strength and light weight. You are paying a premium for the Pinarello name and badge, but other vendors with this spec of frame will also be in the same price bracket, so it's really down to the above factors.

Fair enough. Still a 'snip' though. Cervelo R5ca £7,499. Storck Fascenario 0.6 £7,061. Viner Maxima RS2 a relative bargain at exactly 5k...

I'd want a big engine in it for that kind of money
