The contract on my mobile ran out last week and every since I get at least 2 calls a day from them. I have tried every method I can think of to stop them calling from a polite "Thank you, but you are the third person to call me to day", to a more blunt "F*** off"

When they ring again, put the phone by the TV speaker and let them talk to that.

They are all the same

My elderly MiL (82) had a cheap PAYG Nokia and dropped it whilst on holiday, so off her own back took it to get repaired went to a shop . They told her she needed to replace.

They considered a 3G touch screen smartphone with a 24 month contract at £35 per month a suitable replacement for a phone that cost £20 in the first place and had a usage of less than £1 per month on PAYG

We went to see them and they were unhelpful, refusing to accept a return, and stating that we had to go back to the shop where she bought it.

So we went to Trading Standards and took advice.... when we took in the paperwork completed so that we would be seeking remedy through the small claims court on the grounds that the sales staff had missold the phone and failed in a duty of care to an elderly confused pensioner their tune changed and we received a full refund.

Should have given the self-gratification artist who ripped her off a good kick in the bollocks as well!

My contract with T mobile ended up two or three years ago. I went into a T mobile shop to just ask what sort of phones would be available as I wasn't sure, then got a letter telling me they were glad I had renewed my contract.

As I hadn't, I was pretty miffed so wrote to the MD and told him abut the attitude of the woman in shop as well. About a week later I had a call from the MD of T Mobile in UK, he said he had cancelled the 'contract' which was supposed to be renewed and apologised for what had happened. I actually only didn't want a contract as the reception was rubbish. I was quite surprised at that response though.

I spent 3 months trying to get Broadband working with them 5 years ago and it was the most awful experience.

Their customer service is, frankly, abhorrent.

Hey Pottsy, I have bad experience with them too, have vowed never to shop there again and I intend to stick to that vow.

Well I feel I have to put the case for the opposition. I had a phone (well I still do its now 3 years old), which was trouble from the start. Before the 6 months were up it had been back to the Orange shop twice for a week at a time to be "corrected". Took it back the 3rd time after about 8 months and was told that as it was now over 6 months old I would still get a free fix (even though it had gone wrong previously) but that I had to pay £15 postage. On a £75 phone that was continually going wrong it just wasn't worth it and started shopping around for a new one. Now I wouldn't buy a phone from Orange again because of this.

I was in the Carphonewarehouse looking at phones and the guy asked why I was replacing my current one... (trying to work out what sort of phone I wanted), so I retold the story and he offered to fix it for free if it was under 12 months old. I pointed out I hadn't bought it from them ... but he said that was fine. Sent the phone off and like I say its still working 3 years on - though I think it may be coming to the end of its life. But I hate learning how to use a new phone.

We had also just purchased a phone for my daughter from a different store - and found out we could of bought a car charger for £5 if we had known about it. He looked it up on their system and then offered us the charger at that price anyway.

OK I accept not all staff in there are competent - but I have obviously met one good one.

The phones in the UK are the cheapest in Europe, so they try to make their money on the contracts. They know that most people will over communicate like crazy given the opportunity! My kids pay £28-£35 a month and think they're winning!

I carry the cheapest I can get from Dixon/Currys on PYG with T mobile and only use it as a back up when travelling, or for the odd text. The last one was bought in 1998 and died this year. Total buying/running cost worked out at about £25 per year.

The replacement dies all sorts of things I don't need, like a camera and colour screen with "apps" (whatever the are) and cost £12. With luck I will be replacing it in about 2022!

Say less, see more.

Bah! Humbug!
