Can get loads of stuff in a Topeak Medium saddle pack - 2 tubes, levers, tools, phone, CO2, pump, keys, etc. I will only carry soft stuff in a jersey pocket - eg wallet. You can get useful little neoprene camera cases from Poundland which look similar to the Rapha case, but are probably a bit smaller, and of course not made from exquisite leather.

For the majority of my rides I seem to need only one bottle of water, so I have a spare bottle on the bike that contains multi-tool, small pump, phone, money, debit card, and any other bits and pieces I want to keep dry!
Every so often you come across a little gem of an answer that makes you think "Why the hell didn't I think of that?". Nice one.:bravo::thumbsup::highfive:

i bought a fairly high quality plastic food pot for about a fiver. Lid clips on with four tabs, it's about 100mm high and 100mm diameter and just fits in a bottle cage. (just about) Takes tyre leavers inner tube, multi too and some bits and bobs. Job's a good 'un .

I previously had a bidon size bike branded one and it was too small and the top was to hard to post stuff in.

Alternatively I previously had an under seat pack (possibly Topeak) which was the size of a sandwich triple pack. That was also quite good - but the plastic pot was easier to whip on and off

Only take the essentials on rides and use the Chrome - Cardiel Shank pouch.

Keep wallet, keys, phone, tyre levers, spare inner tube, airrocket pump, Topeka multitool and a Kyrpto lock.

Thanks.

Like to take the credit, but saw a club mate doing this a couple of years ago. My response was exactly the same as yours! ^_^

I have the Rapha thing. It’s a nicely made bit of kit but I agree it’s a bit pricey.

The killer feature is its “pocket shaped” so fits my centre jersey pocket spot one (a Rapha jersey of course!!!!).

I leave it packed with my usual ride stuff, multi tool, cleat covers, spare cash…. it speeds up the getting out the house by reducing my pocket packing time.

It also reduces the change of hooking something onto the road while fishing a banana out. Someone needs to grow a straight “cycle pocket friendly” banana!

The Rapah one is “over made” I’d be just as happy with a cheaper synthetic bag.

Saddle bag, I use a “Scicon Aeronaut” to store a tube and leavers. As practical as saddle bags are they do look naff and spoil the lines of the bike. My winter project idea is to try and create a little pod that sits hidden within the saddle rails, to hold a tube.

I use one of these for phone wallet etc if I am only carrying 1 bottle. It will fit in a bottle cage, or can be bolted to the bottle cage bosses (IMO the one in the pic is fixed upside down, I would keep the opening at the top). Very neat. I also have a Trek tool bottle which is a really useful piece of kit - bottle shaped but with a zip running around from top to bottom so that it opens lengthwise. This has elastic nets in the 2 halves that hold tools, wallet, phone etc. Unfortunately it is no longer available - if you see any old stock, buy one . The plastic tool bottles/cut off bidons have a tendency to rattle!

I gave my bike a good clean last night and just took a pic of everything I took off the bike before I put it all back on.

My solution. This was just before a 200km ride, hence the extra drink. 2 tubes, levers, multitool, phone, repair kit, and money are in the bottle on the second frame mounted bidon. there are two spare Co2 canisters mounted on the downtube, with the pump (with a cylinder attached but not opened) on the top of the downtube between the top of the seat stays. I've set up the seat mount to carry 3 bidons (2 had drink 1 extra food), as I was in the New Forest during tack spreading time I also had an extra 2 tubes and Co2 cylinders velcro'd in the middle of the mount. Finally a "cafe" lock velcro'd to the seat tube and seat mount. I should add the iphone case has long since gone, I now carry a cheap small Ebay phone.

I use a bottle case on my other bikes, but as they are used for commuting I only carry 1 drinks bidon, so don't need to add extra mounts.

Like Mr Plumtree I keep everything in a bottle and swap it between bikes . If I am going for a longer ride I just put everything in the jersey pockets . Didn't like it at first but once you get going you end up checking they are still there so not a discomfort at all .
