There was always a scrum at the bus stop at the end of the school day. Competition to get on the first bus was intense. When we lower-sixth formers edited the school mag, this was my cartoon. There were complaints (too late) from teachers who felt it wasn't the image they wished to project. The apple is a subtle reference to the Sacred Heart girls' school, off-stage right, who, when they were prevented from joining us at the stop, would pelt us with apples from the adjacent orchard.
