The easiest way to shift any cassette is to stand with the wheel leaning against your shins, cassette facing away from you.
Lean over the wheel. For explanation, the clockface is upside down, with 12 O'clock pointing to the ground.
chainwhip attached and in your left hand, at about 8 O'clock
spanner attached to socket at about 4 O'clock

All you need to do then, is lean on the opposing spanners

This works up to a point... what happens when a 175lbs guy's weight is putting as much weight as he can without falling over & the cassette doesn't budge?... For me I go to the option outlined above.

After busting a 2nd chain whip (so it's not me being puny, but I can't recommend the £8 VAR chainwhip from Decathlon) I gave up and got to the LBS. They got it off in minutes but did conceed that it was on "a bit tight".
