Ooh, sorry to hear that, RT! I love cats. Hope yours makes a good recovery.

RT, my son's cat was hit by a car and a similar thing happened to the pelvis. They removed their large dining table in the kitchen and the Cats' Protection loaned them a cage, so the adventurous moggie couldn't climb until he was really better.

Lots of love and virtual hugs for Joe.

Ouch! Sounds like the driver did the right thing, perhaps you can keep them informed as they obviously mean well.

Hope little Joe is back to fighting fit soon.

I feel a bit guilty about the driver. I was only really thinking about getting Joe to the vets, so I pretty much said "thanks" and shut the door on him. I might write to the local paper and say how much I appreciated him doing what he did.

Thanks for all the good wishes ... apparently it's a pretty clean break on the left side of his pelvic bone, plus minor abrasions on his paws where he landed on the road. He's been kept in at the vets' tonight and we're all hoping he'll be able to have a pee on his own and that there's no nerve damage. Ms RT went to see him earlier this evening and said he looked pretty happy, all things considered. I've got him a cage, but I might take it back and get a bigger one tomorrow as the one I've bought will only just hold his litter tray and bed. But I'll see what the vet says in the morning.

Wow i am impressed by the driver, if the cat were left on the road he would probally have died, presuming he wouldn't have been able to walk. Two of our cats have been run over by speeding cars going through our village, our neighbor witnessed one of them and recognised the car. It was this yob who was in my year at school, never got on with him. I went straight down there and let him know how i felt, was hard to restrain myself when he just sniggered saying it's "just a cat". He's in prison now though, hope the other inmates treat him harshly.

Hope your cat recovers nice and quickly.

Well, he's home. Cost me two hundred quid in vet's bills and £70 odd for the cage and a vet bed and so on. He doesn't like his cage at all, keeps yowling to be let out and can't understand why he's in there. Poor little chap.B)

That's why we now have More T>an pet insurance £14 per month per cat. We have 2 one has had an op on his leg and a growth removed from his back, the other has has an op on his leg and a growth removed from his tongue. Cost £70 (?) excess each claim, other than that it has been well worth it. Must has saved us thousands.

Poor thing, but that's why he needs to be in there. Sounds like he'd be out and trying to do too much, which would not be good for the healing of his fractured pelvis.

Your first post on this subject had me convinced, to be honest. He's settled down a lot now. How he'll be in a month's time is anyone's guess ... B)

One of my folks' cats also got hit by a car, and also had to stay in a cage for 6 weeks or so while her pelvis reset. She also yowled each time someone came in the room to draw attention to the fact she was 'trapped' and thus set her free.

Poor thing, hope he's better soon. And keep up your resolve - even though he wants out, you know it's better for him to stay inside.
