I do it constantly often catch myself in the bus lane realising I'm in the car and not driving my bus :secret: quick check of the mirrors and get out as soon as possible before I get caught.

I often end up having problems when navigating around town in the car - forgetting where there are roads that have been traffic calmed which only allow bikes through.

The other problem I sometimes have is wanting to walk on the road - I just get so used to being on the road I sometimes forget to use the pavement.

Hahahaha, that must be much tougher for you than for the rest of us, I guess. You've reminded me of a friend who drives an ambo and got done for using a gate in her car on the way home. Oops! I think they let her off after she explained and apologised.

And therein lies the difference, a motorist that has done something wrong, taken the punishment and accepted their guilt....

MAC you have my admiration.

Sadly, we have millions more who have an abject desire to abdicate any responsibility for their driving, and a judiciary that is complicit in this.

I used to have some great fun driving and riding around Coventry, the road layout kept changing during my time there and, when my parents used to visit me or in the summer I'd be driving cars round a city I not only normally cycled around, using cycle routes and roads but also used to drive mini busses round which allowed me to use bus lanes and routes that weren't open to cars.

I did the same a while back - luckily with no camera. Just took the lane into the bus gate by complete habit

Ironically I wish they would put a camera on there because most who go through deliberately ignore the bus gate signs AND the "no right turn" sign and send pedestrians crossing on green scrambling

I once rented a motorcycle from a guy who rode everywhere. He then broke his collarbone and had to switch to the car for a while. He said the first time he was in the car on a regular journey, he filtered up the outside of the traffic as always to the lights, and it was only when he went to pull back in that he realised this was probably not the done thing in a car. :-D

Not done that, but I often find myself jogging in the cycle lane through the local park that is my regular commuting route. Not illegal, just inconsiderate to those self-righteous RLJ cycling menaces.
