People have got to learn to actually try and secure their bikes, that bike may just as well have been tied to the bike stand with a shoe lace. If the bike had been shackled to the bike stand with a half decent d-lock the scumbag thief would probably have looked elsewhere.

Still, if my town hack is left with two d-locks holding it, I can be reasonably sure that it will still be there when I come back to it, especially if the other bikes at the stands are "secured" as well as that one was.

Quite agree with this comment.I see numerous bikes locked up everywhere not locked up properly and then the wheels go missing or whatever.I had three, two locks and a chain and took my old hack when I visited the dentist the other day because I knew it was a high risk area.Still wasn't happy or felt secure but it was ok when I got back.Yes I've been guilty of using cable locks and managed to get back to my bike in 1985 just in time to confront a thief who was trying to nick my bike and had cut through one of the two locks.

I visit a lot of railway stations in my line of work and it's mind boggling how poorly locked up bikes are or have insufficient poor bike locks.Yet another example of something so common like missing wheels or just the wheel locked up and frame gone.Taken last night. Most bikes on the same rack were insufficiently locked up.
