Chain came off fixed this morning

My chain bounced of my fixed this morning,I was going over a pretty rough patch.
When I checked the chain doesn't seem particularly loose. Can the chain come off randomly like this as a one off or should I tighten it ASAP ( ie before I cycle home)?

I've been communting on a Giant Bowery for over a year with no incidents.

Scary!!! Have you tried checking the tightness at multiple points around the chain? Sometimes it'll get slack at some points and tight at others.

check the chain, if you are sure chain tension was maintained you may have a broken link or broken powerlink and not have noticed, ive seen this before.
if chain is sound then its a tension thing.
is your alignment between chainring and sprocket correct also?

Check the sprocket and chainring teeth as well. After a year might be when you have problems with wear.

Check that your chainring bolts are tight too.

And that you've not tucked your top into your underpants. This applies to all riders, not just fixengers...
