Read the linked page. Complicated read tbh. In a nutshell, they suggest that most tools measure both pin and bushing wear and hence you end up replacing the chain too early?

Which is why the great Sheldon recommended using a tape measure.

To be honest, until I read that article I had replaced my chains based on the Park chain checker. I know realise that I wasted a truly vast amount of hard earned money replacing chains when they didn't really need replacing.

I have since purchased the Shimano chain checker, a lot of money for what it is, but it's quick and easy to check
