chainring exchange

I want to swop my 42t chainring for a 39t - my current set up is a Simano 600ex arabesque with a 5 speed freewheel with twin chainrings on the crank - on ebay is a Shimano 39t with the correct 130mm BCD but states it's for 10speed will this be ok? Cheers Bill

I swapped a 42 for a 38 (smallest available for a 130BCD)

You can get them for £10 plus postage from Spa Cycles Harrogate. I bought the Stronglight Dural alloy ring, very good quality.

I did exactly the same - no problems and (slightly) kinder on hills!
