I find the need to use equates to distance of a ride so never touch the stuff for shorter rides
Then again when I finally get out on my new bike I might just use some as I'm not sure how I am going to get on with the saddle.

Same here. I ride MTB mostly and anything under 50 km I won’t bother, but beyond that I will. Or if I’m riding in the soaking rain I will also use it.

Been using Aquasoft cream for years, its very cheap, and my bottom is now very soft.

I've given up on messy chamois, I use aloe after the ride and it works well enough. 100F today and has been all week, so shorter rides - 60 miles - not needing any kind of added udder stuff.
