I am hardcore, I leave the wheel in place, pop the tyre half off and patch up the tube all in situ!

This is said in jest although I have done it before on my fixed when I found myself lacking a stubby spanner and unable to get the back wheel off!

So that you can run your hand around the inside of the tyre to check for debris that may have burst your tube, good for checking the rim tape too to make sure that a spoke didn't burst your wheel

I last did that on an old bike when quick release skewers were still exotic - to me anyway. I also think it was the quickest repair job I've ever done. Mind you, it was pouring at the time.

When I get a puncture I usually get out my camping stove or flask and whilst drinking tea I have time to contemplate my immediate situation and decide on the most appropriate repair procedure for the conditions at the time.

The really REALLY important thing is to determine what caused the puncture, and remove it, if still in the tyre. If you can do this without removing the tyre, that's fine, but sometimes you have to take the tyre off and turn it inside out to find the cause.

Sorry guys,

It's wheel off, bike UPRIGHT, one side of tyre off, tube out, check for debris, tube in, tyre on with hands, inflate, back in and off. Taking the tyre off isn't needed.

Oh and if it's a rear, and it's on the commuter - panniers come off to reduce weight.

Anyone turning bikes upside down is wrong !

I can (and do) do all that with the bead still on the rim on one side.

So do I if it's raining. Last year did one on rear wheel using a Park Tools patch in under 5 minutes, with the bike on its side on a wooden seat.

I'd pick B but I never carry a spare tube as I run marathon+ and it's generally a waste of time. That and I'm never more than 10 miles from home.

10 miles is a long way to walk pushing a bike, never mind about what it would do to my cleats . I always carry 2 tubes, Park Tool patches, and traditional glue and patches. (Sometimes to the benefit of others ....... )

B- I don't like to stuff the tube, the times I've done so have ended with the tube herniating out at some point where I stuffed it in wrong.

Tyre off, tube in, take my time and do a proper job. takes 8 minutes. (according to Big Ben)

True but I wear flat shoes I admit to being quite the fairweather cyclist - I can also always rely on a lift usually if I have a flat. The only "puncture" I thought I had was a knackered valve and a patch kit wouldn't have helped me anyway, and Marathon+ are a complete tosspot to get on. Took me an hour (seriously) to get it back on the rim.

And I note that no-one has mentioned talc.

We need option F - tubs. Unscrew valve core, pour in sealant, pump up, ride. Or jump up and down swearing and proceed to option D.

And G. Pump up tyre, listen for hiss, remove enough bead to get portion of inner tube out and hand in, Patch, put back, preferably without taking the wheel off. Option B is for the insecure.
