Changing forum?

I think the design of the website is purely up to the owner. He will, and should, do what he wants with his website. If it's not liked or if people feel they can do better the solutions are obvious.

I hope you are not being serious. You do realise that the website is run as a business and draws income. And like all business it needs to retain and grow its customer base. The customer in this case are the folks who create threads, post and do views. CRC, Wiggle etc spend a lot on navigation UI design to grow their businesses . Intuitive navigation is a must when the World is content rich.

The business model is similar to free newspapers where readership drives advertising revenue

Condescending git. Of course I realise that. There is a subtle difference between this site and a site such as Wiggle though. The "customer" doesn't buy anything direct from the owner of the website. Sure he earns money from click through advertising but the control of the website is still his and I would think the tipping point between "Hmmm, yes that's a good idea" and "Sod this for a lark there are easier ways to make a living" is much easier to reach than with a site that actually sells something.

Condescending git. Of course I realise that but the ultimate power still lies with the website owner cos he can always just turn round and say "Sod it, there are more fun things to do in life" and close the website down.

A business owner has every right to close his business even if it is financially viable. That is indeed within his power. Let me know if you need any further help in understanding business and the importance of customers.

Cyclist33/Arrowfoot, take a minute to look at the forum list and tell us what you would like to do, then if the consensus is that you have some good ideas and we all agree Shaun can look at the list and adjust the arrangement, if it's simple to do.
