My cousins first car at 17 was a 1978/79 MK2 Escort 1.6 Ghia. It was silver with twin Webers and mesh headrests 
In contrast mine was a 1980/81 Fiesta Popular Plus. No head rests, one door mirror, plastic seats, hell it didn't even have anywhere to fit a radio, I had to buy a frame to screw on the underside of the dash as there was no centre console what so ever!
For the record, I wasn't jealous of his Escort at all, honest

I had a Mk2 1.6 Ghia and apart form a lovely gearbox I can't think of much else positive to say about it.
