I was there in June too-beautiful place.We may even have passed eachother

. Castle Stalker is where I want to live.....you'd not get any unwanted visitors there would you
It's a small world!
We had been trying out the cycleway that Sustrans is building from Oban to Ballachulish. In many places it is using the path of the old railway line that used to run up there but some parts of that were lost to the A828 when it was improved back in the late 60s after the trains stopped running. I used to watch the steam trains on that line when I was a young boy!
I think that you can actually wade out to the castle when the tide is low ... Anyway, you are out of luck - somebody beat you to it and bought the castle!
After we'd got as close as we could to the castle, we rode the loop round through Port Appin and I thought to myself what a fantastic training loop it would be if you lived up there! It is a 15 km loop with about 230 m of climbing per loop so 11 circuits would give you 165 km (103 miles) and over 2,500 (8,200 ft) of ascent. One of the little climbs is very steep so you'd get a fantastic workout. You can use the cycleway to keep you off the A828 and the rest of the loop is a quiet, scenic singletrack road.
ColinJ, you look like a good-looking lad from your avatar. I'm sure a lot of women would find you attractive. Whether you want to be in a relationship, though, is another matter altogether.
Oh ...!
That's very nice of you, but I decided some time ago not to contribute to the human gene pool so it seems fairer to get out of the way and let those who
do want to, to play the mating game! (I don't think I'm cut out for it ...

)
