Cheap commuting bikes, did Covid shunt the prices up?

I'm near Manchester and am tight fisted so was ideally looking around £100

Facebook Marketplace has turned up a few within 40 mins drive so going shopping soon...

Part of the issue was finding bikes that are from brands I know so that I'm confident they don't have odd incompatible parts
Found a few early 2000s GT, Muddy Fox and similar

A good way is to ask the seller if he has any photos of the bike from before the sale date .
Any proof of purchase and or ownership .
Check frame number on one of the bike registration sites .
