cheapest place for road bike inner tubes?

I wish I could bring myself to buy cheap innertubes, unfortunately I am such a tart, I have to have Continentals with the yellow dust caps.

These matters are of great importance - better to ride with no dustcaps at all than unmatching dustcaps (he said, peering into can of worms opened by raising doubt that dustcaps might not be necessary after all ...... but that's another thread....... )

Yeah Wilkinsons do sell road bike inner tubes, I noticed them today for about £3.something, I'm going back for some tomorrow because I have got a flat from riding like a lunatic on my trainer........I wondered what the weird noise was!

You'll get them far cheaper than a fiver, without going into depth I've found ribble quite cheap for things lately.

Got a sale on too - extra 12% off everything.
They do continental tubes in boxes of 5 10 & 50 too I believe so for riding groups can work out damn cheap.

or you could just exchange the dust caps each time.

the internet will always win but for immediate purchase +1 to decathlon or look out for local bike jumbles, there's always someone with a 5 for a tenner type deal on branded name tubes.

Planet X have have listed the best price tubes recently, but you'll be lucky to find them in stock, and they have a minimum order value before free carriage, which leaves Ribble as the most competitive at the moment (Jan 2014) as they now offer free delivery on everything. BTW isn't it amazing the way some threads resurface after lying dormant ........
- and I've dispensed with dustcaps and valve lockrings (none on Michelin tubes anyway), without any ill effects. Just use the dustcap to protect the folded tube.

I too have some Conti's but I much prefer Schwalbes 'Clear' dust caps -

I buy the own brand ones from Wiggle. I haven't noticed any difference in comparison to branded tubes.

You do realise the caps are there to stop the tubes puncturing prior to installation? You are meant to throw them away when you install.

They do help keep the fragile air valve clean and reduce the risk of damage to it though.
