After years of living in North London I finally tried the ubiquitous cheese in a tin that all the Turkish shops sell...

and it's blinkin' delicious!!

One more reason not to go further than the corner shop for food :smile:

Yeah, very like feta but creamier and not as crumbly

Beyaz Peynir - "white cheese". It's probably the Turkish equivalent of kraft cheese slices, but I like it.

Bayez peynir, interesting etymology. Indian cheese is called "paneer" which is prety well the same word. I'm not sure which labguage is "paneer", it could be Gujerati but is more likely Hindi. Perhaps the root is arabic. Interesting.
