Mrs Wife & I were chatting earlier about food at kids parties, and we reminisced and wondered whether kids still have Chocolate Cornflake cakes as a birthday treat.

After a few minutes she said " let's go to Aldi/Lidle and get the stuff to make them.

So half hour later back home and I've made a batch.

They're now in the fridge to set, in the meantime I'm having a cup of splosh and a Tunnocks Tea Cake ( also from Ladle) to keep me going.

What delightful treats do you remember from kids parties?

Love them, i used to make lots along with fairy and butterfly cakes when i was small at home.

I love trifle and would still to this day fight you for it in a way only a girlie would know how:girldance:

Oooh Trifle, memories of childhood Christmas. My mother made the best trifle ever. And you would lose that fight. Oh yes.

I disagree, my mother used to make the best trifle ever, but now I do. It's one of my Christmas specials.

Rice Krispy Cakes need to have raisins in them.

Trifle. Urgh. Vile stuff. As is jelly with ice cream. One or t'other, never together. And don't get me started on the "delights" of blancmange, semolina etc.

Believe it or not, I've always been a fan of cake. :hungry: My mother got a lot wrong but you couldn't fault her chocolate cake with white icing. My belly's rumbling just thinking about it. Or maybe that's just my memory playing jokes as I'm pretty sure that was the only thing she ever made that wasn't burnt. Or was it, hence the lashings of icing?

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Chocolate concrete and pink custard. We used to have that at school. My aunt used to buy cakes from a local bakery. I liked the ones that looked like hot dog rolls with icing on top of them. You could get plain icing or lemon icing.
