Some will pay that and be happy about it.

Agreed.
If I had a bit of spare dosh I would take the MIL to that as a pressie.
She so enjoy's afternoon tea at the Ritz so would be in no doubt that she would love that too.

And can Imagine that the food would be truly scrumptious.

That does not seem too bad, given how much places charge for crap mass-produced food. Although I might be looking for a bed for the night as well at £400...

Judging your grammar
I would want to take the candlestick home for £390.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
...and right next door in the Guardian was Christmas lunch (unpriced) at Crisis.

Sounds like a bargain to me. Lunch in one of the top hotels in central London and all the razamataz of the ritz that goes with it. If you want cheap try the travel lodge.

Trouble is, 'all the razamataz' would simply make me feel uncomfortable. Having to dress up nicely etc.

I'd love to know the cost per head of the ingredients. I don't care how fancy a turkey is, it's still turkey. I'm afraid I just look at that price and think "a month's rent!? On a turkey dinner?!"

NT just said, he got plenty of razamataz having dinner with my family:laugh:

I have bought my wife and kids afternoon tea at claridges in the new year £60 a head plus 12.5% tip,it's a great experience , a real treat we have spent 150 quid ahead at 3 star establishments ,it's a travel into another world, tastes that you dream of!not a every day occurrence but the whole experience at the level theese places go to is brilliant
