Some of our local christmas tree farms have now gone down the PYO route - With some you are supplied with a saw, may and wheelbarrow, then choose and cut your own tree from their plantation. Others you choose and they cut it for you.

I tutted to myself a good many weeks ago as I drove past a house (in the dark) on the A68 at the top of Bildershaw bank that appeared to have a large inflatable snowman sat in the front garden. Bit early for that I thought..... Passing it in daylight last week and it's actually a big white septic tank sat there waiting to be installed

They’re a couple of smallish self sewn from the side of a track, they would have got in the way if they had grown much bigger. (and mountain bikers would have kept hitting them.)

It always amuses me when, early on a December Sunday morning, I see a couple of townies furtively sawing away at a seedling by the side of a road between Coniston lake and Windermere, when, if they asked the right people 
they would be given a better tree, without all the subterfuge, for free.
