Mrs W got a text from Debs our old next door neighbour to say she had just put up her Christmas tree. Apparently she was bored and fed up with the weather.
However Mrs W and Debs usually start recommending Christmas movies to each other from about June onwards.

A story of Christmas trees going in the other direction...

In the 1980s my parents lived not so far from a dual carriageway main road which had conifers planted on the embankment.

My mum decided that an entire Christmas tree was overkill, so each December she would nip out with a pair of loppers and come back with a substantial chunk of conifer.

yes my Grandad used to do that in a local woods which was privately owned but the owners didn't maintain it or care about it. I think it was an actual christmas tree rather than conifers though. Of course with no root base, it would start dying soon into January and we took it out the window, then had to hoover up 3 inches of needles!
