Well I've heard from the vendor.
It's not good...

I never thought anyone would bid on a bike which has sat in the garden for 4 years!
You will need gloves and something to cut it out of the undergrowth

I may have possibly wasted a pound.

Sounds like he wants you to pay £1 to do his garden for him, not a bad plan he's got there

You should tell him you will come and collect for a pound but he is to make it available for you to collect. His failure to do so would be against ebay rules as you are now in a contract. You will hand over the pound and he must hand over the bike.

Also tell him that you are poor and you were hoping to be able to do it up for your kid's Christmas present.

Good point batman! Such cheek deserves to be taken to the wire, imho. What if the buyer was a poor old lady trying to buy a bike for her grandson for Xmas?

The ad's condition description clearly says:
Used: An item that has been previously used. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. This item may be a floor model or an item that has been returned to the seller after a period of use. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections.

Or you could just ask for your quid back.

Sounds to me that he wanted more than a quid and is trying to fob you off so he can re list it....

If he didn't think anyone would bid on the item , why did he list it in the first place
