Hi,
I urgently need a clevis pin for my Burley Nomad trailer, app. 5 mm x 55 mm (3/16" -ich x 2"). This is for the Quick release standard hitch. I trawled the net and found nothing. Where can I buy one ? Please help a lost man.
I also read the manual for this trailer "Do not use in temperatures under 0 C " Hmmmm, no winter camping then !!!!
Thanks

The spring type "over the tube" clip?

Like the one in this photo retaining the handle on my tube bender.

Try your local farm machinery dealer; they are called Lynch pins, but there are two types; Over the end type, and over the tube type ..... you require the over the tube type.

Look on either the Vapormatic, or the Sparex display stands and you will find the pins for about 50p to 80p +VAT each

The same pins are also used to hold the tines on Petrol Mountfield garden cultivators, but at horticultural dealers the same pin will set you back £1.50.

Another tip; If you have a Pike angler friend, ask them to make you up a short stainless steel wire trace to fix the pin to the trailer so it does not become lost. Just pop the spring off the pin and thread the trace onto it, then fix the spring back on to the pin.

There maybe some confusion as this type of Lynch pin has been called several different things: Over the top Lynch pin, Pipe Lynch pin, tubing Lynch pin, staberliser Lynch pin, etc.

Printing off these two pictures to take with you may be of help when you go to buy the replacement Lynch pins:

A) is the most commonly available type (this one is in the open position)

B) and C) are safety versions

D) so is this one, but I'll admit to never seeing this particular type.

If you get stuck trying to find a retailer, let me know as I use the 8 mm diameter version on a lot of the bike trailers, pack saddle frames, pony carts, flag pole sockets and various other things that I make. I currently have well over 100 of both the 8mm and 10mm versions in stock.

If it is possible to open up the pin retention hole on the Burly with a drill bit, I can send you an 8mm Lynch pin, C/w a 10 - 15 cm long, 45KG breaking strain stainless steel attachment/anti loss trace wire (I use these on all the lynch pins I install). ...... just drop £2 in a local charity box to cover the P&P, etc.
