He was also shot down, taken a prisoner of war and lost a valuable aircraft because he disregarded orders on flying in formation with the bombers he was escorting.

That being the case I'm reluctant to follow his advice on adherence to rules!

I used to know someone who had been hit by a low-flying aircraft.
He got away with a broken collarbone, unlike the taller chap next to him.

Happened twice to me while walking on the moors... second time I was stood by the trig point of black Hill (Holme moss) and I said to my mate "remember that time the harrier flew right over our hea....".WWHHHOOOOSSSHHHHH
