I have found that when it is raining I usually get more room. I like to imagine that people are putting my safety first (although that probably isnt the case).
I think the only weather that results in changed overtaking habits is when its snow and drivers can actually see why you are not in the gutter. That could just be my perception as I believe that the OP perceived overtakes in the wet to be closer (IME theres no difference), perhaps they just sounded closer because of the surface. There might also be a limited number of folks who dont see a cyclist properly through a misty widscreen
Seems more like the opposite where I live when the sun comes out so do all the numpties with their windows wound down telling you to move over or whatever.
