About a dozen of us out on a club run this morning, riding in pairs when a transit passed us close at about 5mph faster than we were going. front passenger leaning out of window, bloke in back with sliding door open slapping as many of us as he could. One women got a full slap on the backside and at least two others got some contact.

You've obviously got to be pretty stupid to do this sort of thing but a complete moron to do it in a sign written van owned by;

Have reported it to police who say they will treat it as assault.

Especially when there's several of you together so that you're all witnesses together! The stupidity of some people beggars belief, it's just a real shame that we have to share the planet with them ... !

It was an act of stupidity and the police should have words of course, jumping up and down with glee at a chance to get someone on the nonce register for it is taking things a bit far IMHO.

And we wonder why it remains so confrontational out there on the road?

The guy acted like a tool but if our attitude to it is going to be as vindictive as that then I would probably speak out in defence of the bloke if I witnessed it happen on a club ride and it made it to court as a sexual assault.

Justice - not witch hunts.

The bloke deserves what he gets, and if that is five years on the sex offenders register it serves him right. Do you realise what the consequences could be for someone who is physically assaulted while riding a bike? Perhaps if a friend or family member lost control and ended up under a car's wheels you might think differently.

And if you think the act described doesn't constitute sexual assault, next time you are in town go and slap a female stranger on the backside and you will find that it is.

Yes it's dangerous.

Quite why you have this determination to label someone as a nonce though is beyond me.

Admin should lock this, it's a witch hunt.

This reminds me rather of the recent speech in which Ken Clarke stated "not all rapes were the same". Sexual Assault is sexual assault. I wonder if you would speak in defence of the bloke if he had done that to your Mother or Sister?

Why should Admin lock the thread? Is it just because you don't agree with it? I didn't realise this was The Zoiders Cycle Chat Forum

Wind your neck in.

Why people persist with the god-win routine I don't know.

"Agree with me or you are a nazi/homphobe/sexist etc etc"

Tiresome.

Why is it that when people disagree with you, you become aggressive? Are you compensating for something?
No it's just you.

You don't have an opinion or any ideas on the subject you are just jumping in on the side that you think will win an argument as a way of having a go.

You also seem to be forgetting that I wasn't the bloke in the van - and if I am being "aggressive" then you must be the worlds biggest bed wetter if you fear some violent motivation behind posts on a cycling forum.
