I would think this will go at section 39 common assault at most, if anything. Unless anyone sustained any injuries. Sexual assault is unlikely, difficult to show there was any intent, unless the guy has previous form for that type of offence. Incidentally the term 'nonce' is in my experience is generally used to refer to pedophiles. I'm not sure we have established the age of the unfortunate female.

The 'slapper' who turned out to be at Exeter uni, put his hands up and apologised as soon as the police traced him and was given a caution.

In theory he should inform the university. It's likely that they will discipline him as well if they find out.

Mine would probably be concerned about the future safety of other students.

Well it took a while and a bit of persistence but it went to court last week and we got, what I consider to be a fair result in the end.
The driver (who gave the police the run around) got a 9 month conditional discharge and has to pay £200 compensation and £35 costs.
The 'slapper' who turned out to be at Exeter uni, put his hands up and apologised as soon as the police traced him and was given a caution.

Sorry rewind on that, someone got their wires crossed. It was the passenger (slapper) that got the conditional discharge and has to pay the compensation and costs, he was actually convicted of 'assault by beating'. The case against the driver is still proceeding but hasn't come to court yet.

Apparently, he refused to accept a caution (even though he'd admited it was him) because someone (probably the driver) told him that it would never go to court.

When do you think the driver may be up in front of the beak out of interest? Do you know what the charges are?

As you say, if he's hacked off the constabulary, there's probably a good chance that they've turned him inside out. Not just vehicularly either. Perhaps there are other issues??

As for the student, are the university taking any action?

Re. the driver; Don't expect to know any more 'till we get a letter after it's been to court. No idea if the uni know or action if they did.
All of us involved would have been happy with the guy apologizing and getting a caution but it seems the arrogant twat who was driving prefered to bring in a JCB to keep digging the hole.
